what you need for Christmas crafting

Step 1: Download & Prepare

Download our gingerbread house template here, print it out, and gather all your materials. This is a great moment to set up a little craft station and get everyone excited.

Step 2: Cut Out the Template

Carefully cut out the gingerbread house template. Younger children will probably need a helping hand here.

Step 3: Trace Onto Cardboard

Use the template to trace gingerbread house shapes onto your flattened cardboard boxes. Draw as many houses as you like – this is where the fun really begins!

Encourage kids to get creative with different roof shapes, windows, and doors. If they need some inspiration, feel free to show them the photos in this blog.

Step 4: Decorate Your Houses

Decorate each cardboard gingerbread house using acrylic paint pens or any craft supplies you have at home. Add windows, doors, patterns, and festive details.

Once finished, leave the houses to dry completely.

Step 5: Measure & Attach the Ribbon

Measure out a long piece of ribbon. If you’d like to tie a bow between each house, make sure to allow extra length.

Using a glue gun or strong tape, attach the ribbon to the back of each gingerbread house. Space them evenly and tie bows in between if you wish.

Leave everything to dry and set securely.
